It is my firm conviction that trauma therapists will deliver more satisfying outcomes if they utilize the somatic features found in the PBSP method when working with clients who have experience with repeated trauma and engage in self-destructive patterns. Certified PBSP Therapist, and PBSP Supervisor-Trainee, Barbara Fischer-Bartelmann, Dipl.-Psych., MA sent this notice at the end of November: The issue no 12 of the german/swiss Pesso-Bulletin is in print and will go out this week. It features an article by myself and [Certified PBSP Therapist] Almuth Roth on Holes in Roles, and an article by myself on the application of PBSP in couple therapy (also relating PBSP to Harville Hendrix' Imago Therapy). We received email from Certified PBSP Therapist and Supervisor Louis Sommeling, of Holland about his PBSP News to share: 1. Part of my website, is dedicated to "Pesso-themes": http://home.tiscali.nl/sommeling/pesso.htm. More than 3000 people have visited this Pesso-pages of my website. On it, for example, is a listing by author and a listing by themes of all the publications of the Dutch Journal of PBSP, "Tijdschrift voor Pesso-psychotherapie", written from its beginning till now (1985 - 2004). Most of the articles are in Dutch, but some are in English.

Added April 3rd, 2004 Jim Amundsen, one of the coordinators of the 5th International PBSP Congress, wrote to say:
"As of today, the official website of the 5th International PBSP conference is operational [at: www.pbsp-ncps.com]. This means that people can now register for the conference via this site."
Added Mar 24th, 2004 "Psychotherapy Conference" May 13-15, 2004 in Munich Germany The third day of this conference is devoted to PBSP workshops by Munich PBSP Training Group Associates.
Added Mar 17th, 2004 Sandy Canfield, NCC, CCMHC, LMHC Deborah Willbur, LCSW, BCD, CGP, two certified PBSP therapists from the ongoing Wedowee, Alabama PBSP Training Group, gave a presentation titled "Psychomotor: A Mind/Body Integrative Model for Group Psychotherapy" at the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) 61st Annual Conference: "The Healing Power of Groups: Generating Hope and Respect" in NYC, New York on Friday afternoon, February 27th, 2004. In the workshop they explained the background and basic principles of PBSP, then did a live demonstration (PBSP structure), during which they continued to teach. Their presentation was evaluated so well that they were invited to come back and give another workshop, next time for one or two days.
Added Mar 17th, 2004 Another note from certified PBSP therapist and trainer Gus Kaufman: I've had a short article which mentions PBSP: "Renewal and Reconciliation After Family Violence?" accepted for publication by the Journal of Religion and Abuse -- [It is] a report on a workshop I co-led with Laura Davis (author of "The Courage to Heal" and "I thought We'd Never Speak Again") and Rabbi Drorah O'Donnell Setel.

Added Nov 13th, 2003 More Sad News. Michael DeSisto, the founder and headmaster of The DeSisto School, a school for emotionally troubled youth in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, died on November 1st, 2003. Since the early 1970's, Michael attended PBSP training workshops and had Diane Boyden-Pesso, Albert Pesso, and Gus Kaufman lead workshops for the school's staff, students and their families.

I came home from presenting an in-service "Using Body Cues in
Psychotherapy" (really PBSP 101) to the staff of Jewish Family and Career Services here to
find this email. Also I did a PBSP workshop in Jerusalem (Jews and Palestinians!), a
lecture-dem to about 30 staff of the Israel Center for the Treatment of
Psychotrauma (Danny Brom's place), etc.
I think I'll see Al this weekend. Will go to Wedowee for part of the

In May, 2003 Leonard Shrenker, a PBSP trainee, sent
an email with a selection of photos he took during an interview with this
message: "Al Pesso during an interview in Munich, Germany, in May 2003. Al was interviewed by Barbara Knab, Ph.D., a Clinical Psychologist who is also a writer on science topics. She is currently preparing an article about Pesso-Boyden-Therapy and part of it will be the interview."
