5th International PBSP Conference
Minneapolis, MN USA June 9-11, 2005

To the greater PBSP community,

As we hope you already know, the North Central Psychomotor Society, in the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, USA, is hosting the 5th International PBSP Congress in June of 2005.   The theme for the congress is: “Remembering Our Roots; Spreading Our Wings.” While this may seem like it's a long way off, we would like to send out a general invitation to submit proposals for leading workshops, discussions, or presenting papers for this congress.  We’re very excited to announce that there will be two key-note speakers: Bessel van der Kolk, MD, one of the worlds leading researchers in the field of trauma, and Martha Stark, MD, a psychoanalyst who teaches at Harvard and is the author of award winning books.

In addition to looking for presenters at the congress itself, we would also like to invite people to submit papers that would be published only in the proceedings.  So, if there are any who do not feel comfortable presenting a live presentation, a second option would be to submit a paper for publication in the proceedings.

Please post this call for papers to anyone you think would be interested.  We cannot promise that all proposals will be accepted, but, each one will be carefully considered by the program committee.  Proposals must be submitted by November 1, 2004.

The text and form below was copied from the "Call for Proposals" at the 5th International PBSP Congress website.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

You are invited to submit proposals for workshops, trainings, or papers for the 5th International PBSP Congress. As in past years, a Proceedings will be published at the conclusion of the Congress.

This Congress is being sponsored by the NorthCentral Psychomotor Society of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

We anticipate about 125 participants, many of whom will be PBSP practitioners. Others will be new to PBSP and will be eager to learn more about the theory and practice of PBSP.

We are particularly interested in proposals that address the following topics as they relate to PBSP:

  • Clinical Applications

  • Case Studies

  • Research

  • Theoretical Implications

  • Philosophical Implications

  • Application for specific clinical populations

  • Experiential Exercises

  • New Trends in Psychotherapy

Proposals will be evaluated by our Scientific Committee who will be using several criteria, including relevance to the field, innovation and creativity, and credentials and skills of the presenter. You are invited to submit more than one proposal.

There are a number of different presentation styles to choose from. We encourage you to consider the style that suits the proposal.

Workshop: A presentation for a group of people with common goals that emphasizes participation.

Roundtable: Issue-oriented dialogue with a session leader who articulates the issues, monitors the progress of the discussions, and facilitates a wrap-up segment at the end of the session.

Panel: Two to three presenters, with a session leader who introduces and summarizes the session, followed by a question-and-answer period and audience discussion of at least 15-20 minutes.

Paper Presentation: Oral presentation of a written paper with minimal audience participation.

Paper Only: Submission of a written paper for the Congress Proceedings. No oral presentation will be made.

PROPOSAL PROCEDURES

To assist in processing this proposal, we ask that you carefully adhere to the following procedures for each proposed topic. Failure to do so will complicate the evaluation of your proposal.
