NH Workshops with Al Pesso

Experience and training in PBSP* can improve your skills and understanding in: nonverbal communication, parent training and education, marriage and family therapy, trauma therapy, abuse, maturational processes, choosing partners, substance abuse, family systems, creation of “new memories”, and more. 

The New Hampshire, USA 2004 Summer Training Workshop dates: 
Introductory PBSP Training I -- July 4-9 
Intermediate PBSP Training II --  July 11-16
Advanced PBSP Training III -- July 18-23
Each workshop is 6 Days long and runs from Sunday thru Friday. 
The 2004 workshops have a tuition of $750.00, and deposit fee of $350.00.
Registrations paid in full 2 months prior to the program receive a 5% discount.

Each 3-day experiential workshop runs Friday through Sunday with a   
tuition of $375 and a deposit of $150.  The participant/observer (no structure) rate is $200
 with a deposit of $100.  The special August 15-20, 6 day experiential workshop registration fee is $750 with a $375 deposit amount. The participant/observer rate is $375 with a deposit of $150.  There is a maximum of 14 structure receiving participants per workshop.

Research

Czech Research  Dr. Jiri Horacek of Charles University in the Czech Republic, is in the process of evaluating the results of the second of two studies on the effects of PBSP on the brain activity of clients who have experienced traumatic history.  The initial conclusions are remarkably positive, indicating that following just two PBSP structures (led by Albert Pesso), clients experienced more control over their emotions. Books and publications

Secrets, Lies and Betrayals  The final three chapters of best selling author Maggie Scarf's new book, Secrets, Lies and Betrayals: The Body/Mind Connection, How the Body Holds the Secrets of a Life, and How to Unlock Them are about PBSP - Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor ("psychomotor"). In those chapters the author narrates through a structure led by Albert Pesso, and her own feelings and experiences while attending a workshop with Al.  Calling it one of the "power therapies" (one of only two she writes about in this book), for doing, as the Executive VP and Editor of Random House says, "in 3 - 6 sessions, what "talking" therapy often does not do in 3 - 6 years", Maggie Scarf writes with such fine detail, and theoretical understanding, in her own compelling style that she truly helps the reader grasp both how PBSP works and its high effectiveness. Random House is already actively promoting this book which is due to be released by May 11th, 2004, as Maggie is one of the "preeminent writers" who's already given them 3 best selling books in the past: Unfinished Business, Intimate Partners, and Intimate Worlds.

Handbook of Body-Psychotherapy / Handbuch der Körperpsychotherapie Albert Pesso has written a chapter tentatively titled “The Externalized Realization of the Unconscious and the Corrective Experience” for this book edited by Halko Weiss, and Gustl Marlock. It is scheduled to come out in German this summer (2004) by the leading academic psychology publisher in the German language, Hogrefe Verlag.  This book is composed of about ninety chapters written by approximately sixty people from twelve countries who are prominent in the Body Psychotherapy field worldwide today.  This book is and has been sponsored by the EABP (European Association of Body-Psychotherapy) and its German and Swiss National Organizations.  An American edition in English is to come out sometime in 2005. 
About the Editors:  Halko Weiss, PH.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist, a founding member and Senior trainer for the Hakomi Institute in Boulder, Colorado; and the International Director of the Hakomi Institute of Europe. He also is the former coordinator for the ongoing PBSP experiential workshops Al Pesso leads for Hakomi therapists in Heidelberg, Germany. Gustl Marlock is a licensed clinical psychologist, a trainer for Unitive Psychology, and the former president of the German Body-Psychotherapy Association.

Between Stress and Hope The trauma book, Between Stress and Hope; From a Disease-Centered to a Health-Centered Perspective, edited by Rebecca Jacoby and Giora Keinan was published by Greenwood Publishing Group October 30th, 2003.  Al Pesso wrote one of the last chapters in this book, called "Cultivating the Seeds of Hope". The editors are professors in the Psychology Department of the University of Tel Aviv, in Israel. Both editors have had training in PBSP with Al Pesso in Israel; Ms Jacoby also studied PBSP with Al for 2 weeks in NH, USA.

German Journal Psychotherapie publishes articles about PBSP

In 2003 Psychotherapie published an article by Leonhard Schrenker and Barbara Fischer-Bartelmann titled: "Pesso-Therapie - ein in Deutschland neues ganzheitliches Verfahren einer körperorientierten Form der Gruppentherapie" (translation: " Pesso therapy - an integrated procedure of a body-oriented form of group therapy new in Germany")

In September of 2004 there will be 4 more articles on PBSP (all in German): 

1. The translation of Albert Pesso's "Stages and Screens"
2. An article from Lowijs Perquin and Al Pesso  about PBSP and sexual abuse.
3. An article from Michael Bachg about "Microtracking".
4. An article from Leonhard Schrenker and Barbara Fischer-Bartelmann about couple-therapy and PBSP.

The 5th International PBSP Congress: Let's all keep the date and plan to get together for "Remembering our Roots, Spreading Our Wings"  June 9-12, 2005 in Minneapolis, MN USA.  The organizers for the 5th International PBSP Congress now have their own website http://www.pbsp-ncps.com/ with all kinds of information, and the ability to register online.  They will soon be sending out an email about it. 

Psychotherapy Conference We are pleased and enthused about the energy and enthusiasm of the Munich PBSP Certification Training Group which secured the entire third day, of this conference, "Psychotherapy Discovers the Body or No Psychotherapy without Body Work?" May 13-15, 2004 in Munich, Germany, for workshops on Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor - PBSP* led mainly by members of the Munich training group. We are also pleased to hear that there was/is so much interest about PBSP in the region, that soon after this conference was announced, all 220 registration slots for the PBSP workshops were filled, and that by March there were so people many wanting PBSP workshops that more workshops had to be added to accommodate them.   
     On Saturday May 15th, Dr. Sybille von Bibra, one of the coordinators for Munich PBSP Certification Training, will read a letter from Al Pesso who will be conducting training in Switzerland at that time. Lowijs Perquin, M.D., the International Coordinator of PBSP Certification Training Programs, will then lead off the workshops with a talk and demonstration.  Thanks go also to the coordinators for this conference: certified PBSP therapist Leonhard Shrenker, Serge K. D. Sulz, and Christoph Schricker.

Psychological Trauma  Once again Albert Pesso will be presenting a Pre-Conference Institute for this annual Trauma Conference in Boston, June 11-12, 2004 .  Sponsored by Boston University School of Medicine, Division of Psychiatry, the Course and Institute Director is Bessel A. van der Kolk, M.D., Medical Director of the Trauma Center, a Program of Arbour Health System. Al's June 10th lecture demonstration will illustrate how in PBSP structures the client and therapist can create new, need satisfying, symbolic memories for the clients that help them handle the normal vicissitudes of life and ameliorate the affects of traumatic histories and maturational deficits and thus help return a sense of meaning to life and reverse the traumatic consequences of loss of self-control. 

International Primal Association's 32nd Annual Convention: "The Primal Mind -- Valuing Intellect and Emotion" August 31st - September 6th, 2004.  The IPA invited Albert Pesso to be the keynote speaker on September 2nd, 2004 at the Conference Center of Appel Farm Arts & Music Center, in Elmer, NJ, USA.

EABP, Greece  Albert Pesso will present a Pre-Conference Institute on "Holes in Roles" October 6th & 7th, 2004 for this 9th European Congress of Body-Psychotherapy: "The Body at the Center of Psychotherapy" sponsored by the European Association for Body-Psychotherapy  - EABP,  October 7-10, 2004 in Athens Marathonas, Greece.
